(Using the present continuous tense)
Usamos el tiempo presente continuo para hablar de:
actividades que están sucediendo en el momento en el que estamos hablando
-Ann is doing her homework.
-Please, be quiet. The baby is sleeping.
algo temporal que está sucediendo en la actualidad pero no necesariamente en el momento en el que estamos hablando. Solemos usar expresiones de tiempo (ej: these days)
-I am working from home these days.
-Mel is visiting her family this week.
acuerdos previos. Decisiones tomadas sobre algo que sucederá en el futuro.
-I’m seeing the doctor tomorrow.
-Sam is travelling abroad next month.
*A tener en cuenta: Existe un grupo de verbos que no suelen usarse en presente continuo en inglés. Estos verbos no indican acciones sino estados. Te dejo una [LISTA DE VERBOS DE ESTADO]
.Verbos que expresan estado y posesión: (ej: be, have, possess)
-They possess a big fortune.
–They are possessing a big fortune.
.Verbos que expresan percepción y sentidos: (ej: see, smell, taste)
-What are you cooking? It smells delicious.
-What are you cooking? It is smelling delicious.
.Verbos que expresan sentimientos y preferencias: (ej: like, dislike, want)
-I like your new car.
–I am liking your new car.
.Verbos que expresan actividades mentales: (ej: believe, understand, suppose)
-I don’t understand this exercise.
–I’m not understanding this exercise.
