(Using the past perfect simple tense)
Usamos el tiempo pasado perfecto simple para hablar de:
Una acción que comenzó y terminó en el pasado y que es anterior a otra acción también en el pasado. El pasado perfecto describe la acción que sucedió primero.
-The train had left when we arrived at the station.
-When he called the meeting had finished.
Una acción que comenzó en el pasado y continúa hasta otro momento en el pasado. El pasado perfecto nos dice cuánto tiempo duró esa acción. Normal mente usamos ‘for’ antes del período de tiempo que duró esa acción.
-They had lived in the South for four years before they moved here.
-I had slept for three hour when I suddenly woke up.
Situaciones irreales o imaginarias. Como es el tercer condicional (third conditional).
-If I had known you needed help, I would have come immediately.
– He would have passed the exam, if he had studied.
